About Kate Keating

I view nearly all the work I do with clients as relational. Whether I'm working with a couple or an individual, my clinical lens will encourage you to consider "the space between." This can include considering how you relate to others in your life, how you relate to your relationship with yourself (also called "parts work")  or how you and I relate in session.

I'm honored to be a part of my clients' life-journey. By bearing witness to the story of others, and through experiencing my own challenges, I've developed a deep and abiding love for the goodness in humanity, even in spite of the pain that is inherent in being alive.

Outside of my identity as a therapist, I love to run, read literary fiction, immerse myself in nature, enjoy the arts, and spend time with my community. My partner and I live with our two children, a cat, and a dog.

The most important factor when engaging in therapeutic work is the connection between client and therapist, but appropriate training and education is important, too. My formal education and training is as follows:

  • Sonoma State University, MA in Counseling, Graduated 2012

Additional trainings (just to name a few):

  • Certificate in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy for Adolescents, Portland DBT Institute

  • Training in clinical applications of Internal Family Systems, led by Dr. Frank Anderson

  • Training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

  • Training in EMDR from Oregon EMDR (an EMDRIA certified program)
